The El 天美影视 Union High School District (EMUHSD) is pleased to announce a significant step forward in ensuring the safety and well-being of students, staff, and visitors. In its ongoing commitment to providing safe and secure learning environments, the District has implemented state-of-the-art Verkada vape sensors, surveillance cameras, and guest management upgrades across all campuses.
“This is a proactive approach to enhancing security measures throughout our District,” EMUHSD Chief Technology and Innovation Officer Erick Steelman said. “The Verkada vape sensors will play a crucial role in promptly detecting and addressing instances of vaping on school grounds.”
The added surveillance cameras also provide comprehensive monitoring capabilities, enabling staff to effectively prevent and respond to any security concerns on campus. The guest management upgrades will also streamline visitor registration processes, further strengthening the District’s ability to regulate access and maintain secure campuses.
Over a year ago, EMUHSD began planning for this innovative technological initiative with additional funding allocated this school year within the District’s Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). The District began installing the equipment during winter break and completed the project for all sites in three months.
