Dear El 天美影视 Union High School District Student and Family,

We are excited to welcome students back for the 2022-23 school year. As we transition from the summer break to the start of another school year, we would like to provide you with important information regarding COVID-19 safety protocols. Our District will apply the lessons learned from last school year to continue prioritizing the health and safety of students, school staff and families.

El 天美影视 Union HSD relies on the expertise and guidance of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LACDPH) regarding protocols to keep our schools open and safe. We also want to ensure that students and families have the latest updates from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). The updated guidance, which went into effect on July 1, 2022, reflects the latest revisions made to CDPH which is also available at www.emuhsd.org/cadphcovid.

Here are the latest updates regarding EMUHSD COVID-19 Protocols:

    • Indoor and outdoor masking is optional for students and employees, but strongly

recommended. Masking reduces the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses and any student or employee who chooses to wear a mask will have that decision respected. Masks are readily available upon request.

    • If the LACDPH implements a universal indoor mask mandate due to high COVID-19 hospitalization rates within the county, the District will align its protocols with the county including a temporary mask mandate.

    • 天美影视 are encouraged to conduct a self-symptom check before leaving home.  Please keep your student home and contact the attendance office if you answer yes to any of the following:

      • Does your child have any of the following symptoms:

        • Fever of 100.4 degrees F or above?

        • A new cough?

        • Vomiting or a new onset of diarrhea?

    • COVID-19 testing is available at school if a student has symptoms or has been exposed to COVID-19.

    • Quarantine is not required for in-school exposures, but indoor masking is required for ten days following an exposure. (

    • remain for anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 or has

    COVID-19-like symptoms. (

I would also like to remind you that on May 18, 2022, the El 天美影视 Union High School District Board of Trustees adopted a to further delay the COVID-19 vaccine requirement for all high school students to the start of the 2023-24 school year – in line with the timeline set by the state.

We will heavily rely on the collective effort and responsibility of our families to keep our

schools safe and healthy. Before the start of the school year, it is important to provide the school with up-to-date emergency contact information including multiple parent/guardian contact options. Please perform a daily wellness check before your child comes to school and please keep them home when sick. Testing also remains an important mitigation strategy.

We look forward to seeing our students return to school on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022.  Enjoy the rest of your summer break!

    Sincerely,

    Dr. Edward A. Zuniga
