  • 10.11.23 EMUEA Negotiation Updates

    The District (EMUHSD) would like to provide our school community with an update on the recent negotiations with the El 天美影视 Union Educators Association (EMUEA). Over the course of the 2023-24 negotiations between the District and EMUEA, we are committed to finding a fair and equitable agreement and keeping our broader educational community informed.

     

    We are pleased to report to you a summary of the first negotiations meeting held on October 11, 2023:

     

    District Initial Proposals 

    Article 8-Hours

    • The District proposed to remove the language: “assigning classroom teachers a minimum of one period per regular school day for preparation, planning and/or conferences” to read  “classroom teachers will be assigned a minimum of one period of preparation for preparation, planning and/or conferences.”
    • EMUEA Counter Proposal-Reinstate the above language to provide classroom teachers a “minimum of one period per regular school day for preparation, planning and/or conferences”
    • EMUEA also countered by moving Special Education Teachers from a five-period teaching day to a four-period teaching day. 

    Article 22-Personal Necessity

    • The District proposed adjusting the allotment of personal necessity days from seven (7) days to five (5) days requiring at least a two (2) day notice
    • No counter proposal  from EMUEA

    Article 29-Salaries and Fringe Benefits

    • No counter-proposal was provided by the District to EMUEA

     

    EMUEA Initial Proposals

    Article 9-Evaluation Procedure

    • No proposal was provided by EMUEA to the District 

    Article 25-Class Size

    • No proposal was provided by EMUEA to the District 

    Article 29-Salaries and Fringe Benefits

    • For 2023-2024, EMUEA proposed an on-schedule salary increase of eleven percent (11%) retroactive to July 1, 2023.
    • For 2024-2025, EMUEA proposed an on-schedule salary increase of six percent (6%) effective July 1, 2024.
    • EMUEA also proposed ninety (90) additional hours per year for school psychologists paid at their per diem rate.
